Project Title: High-Performance Lubricant for Natural Gas Fleet
Client: A municipal public transit authority converting to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses.
Description: The client’s new fleet of CNG-powered buses required a specialized engine oil formulated to handle the unique challenges of natural gas combustion, which produces higher operating temperatures and increased nitrogen oxide (NOx) formation. Conventional oils led to excessive oxidation, nitration, and ash deposits. NALUP supplied a low-ash, high-TBN (Total Base Number) synthetic engine oil specifically designed for CNG engines. This oil provides superior control of deposits, protects against valve seat recession, and extends oil drain intervals despite the harsh conditions.
Outcome: Significant reduction in harmful engine deposits, extended oil life, and protected engine warranty requirements, leading to lower total operating costs for the transit authority.
